Amazon Student – 6 Months Free Shipping

Amazon just sent me this email and I thought it was worth sharing.

Invalid request error occurred.

Normally I wouldn’t even bother sharing these types of emails just for the Referral Credit, however since I personally use Amazon Student all the time and it is amazing, I thought I’d recommend it given that you DON’T even need to be a Student to sign up!

For those of you not familiar with Amazon Student, it is basically Amazon Prime for “College Students”.

For those of you not familiar with Amazon Prime, it is basically FREE 2 Day Shipping on most Amazon sold products with no Minimum Spend Requirement.

This means you don’t have to spend $25 on Amazon.com to get Free Shipping.

Amazon Prime normally costs $79 a year, so Amazon Student free for 6 months is a $40 value. Plus when your Amazon Student account expires, they normally give you another year of Amazon Prime for only $40.

I use Amazon at least once a week for anything and everything imaginable, so having 2 Day Shipping and no Minimum Spend Requirement is awesome. Sometimes things even come overnight depending on when you order them.

The best part about Amazon Student program is that you DON’T even have to be a College Student to enroll, you just have to have a “.edu” Email Address.

My College let us keep our College Email Addresses indefinitely, so for the past few years I have been using my .edu email to get Amazon Student for free. Ironically, that is probably the most useful benefit I have received from having a College Degree…

Even if you aren’t an Amazon nut like myself, if you have a “.edu” Email Address I’d recommend signing up.

Amazon doesn’t charge Sales Tax for most items and most of their items are already cheaper than the Big Box stores. Also Amazon Student is free so you don’t have anything to lose.

My Roommates and I need a new Wireless Router and TV. By purchasing the exact same items at Amazon over Best Buy, we will be saving close to $500 and the items will be at our doorstep in 2 days! Can’t beat that!

If you do sign up, feel free to post your Referral Link below.

  1. "o for the past few years I have been using my .edu email to get Amazon Student for free."

How did you manage that? I got Amazon Prime for free back in 2010 when I enrolled in college (it was one year for free back then, not just 6 months), but since then I only get the "$39 for 1 year" offer, which although cheap is not free.

BTW, anyone interested in joining and sharing the wealth, my referral link is http://www.amazon.com/gp/student/signup/info?ie=UTF8&refcust=ARZ246H3WL3A7SQ55GGSRMKSPU&ref_type=generic
    (big link!)

  2. @Miguel – I signed up like 5 years ago when it was first offered and back then it was for as long as you had a .edu email, so I was grandfathered in.
