My Current Mileage Situation For 2012

For the sake of transparency and to show that I’m in the same boat as my readers, as of January 3, 2012, here is where I stand in terms of my mileage accounts.

Airlines:

While I do have Star Alliance Silver status from 2011, that will be expiring soon. However I do have my free Kingfisher Silver status which I’m told will be converting to OneWorld Ruby soon.

The reasons why I have so many different account with little to no miles is because of constant promos going on. You never know which airlines you can earn miles in or which airlines will merge in the future. I have 5,000 BMI from a free sign up a couple of years ago and now since British Airways is buying BMI, those 5,000 BMI miles should hopefully convert into British Airways Avios miles.

I additionally have my 60k+ Ultimate Rewards points from my Chase Sapphire Preferred card sign up. Those UR points I can transfer to BA, CO, or UA.

Hotels:

In terms of hotels, I could be in a lot better shape. I don’t mattress run and prefer to get the cheapest possible rate than earn a few hundred points. Most of my points have come either from credit card sign ups, or booking travel for other people. All of my status has been achieved from promos and then status matching to other hotels when necessary.

Hows your 2012 mileage situation looking?
