Your Mileage May Vary – British Airways Edition

This morning my Mother forwarded me this email that British Airways sent her.

For those of you not familiar, my Parents had used their BA Avios to book a flight from ORD – LGA on American Airlines and ended up earning miles on the flight even though it was an award ticket.

It seems British Airways figured out that mistake and are taking the Avios back.

Since it is only 700 Avios and it was a mistake to begin with, it isn’t a huge deal.

I don’t know if BA has fixed their system or this was just a random one time thing.

It is highly unlikely that they are going to go back and remove mistake miles from everyone’s account since there are probably millions of award tickets that they mistakenly gave credit for.

Has anyone else gotten this letter?
