Using The Club Carlson 30% Coupon For The 50,000 Point Big Night Giveaway

A reader just emailed me a question about using the Club Carlson 30% off promotion in conjunction with the 50,000 Point Big Night Giveaway.

I’ve been meaning to write about that 30% off promotion for a while, so I figured now is as good of a time as any.

If you are just joining us for Club Carlson’s 50,000 Point Big Night Giveaway, the old posts are below.

How To Take Advantage Of Radisson’s Big Night Giveaway

How To Find What Hotels Are Eligible For the 30% Promotion

I’m based out of Chicago, and actually a friend of mine was asking about cheap Club Carlson hotels in Chicago, so I did a quick search of Chicago hotels at ClubClarson.com.

When you search you want to click on “More Search Options” link (highlighted in yellow below), so you can enter the promo code of 30PCTOFF.

After you hit “More Search Options”, simply plug in your information along with the promo code and hit search.

Not all properties are participating, from the looks of it that includes all the Radisson Aqua hotels.

When searching by a particular hotel, remember that the hotel might not be offering the 30% rate at the exact date you are looking for, however they may be offering it on a different date.

Therefore, you have to tinker to find the dates that the particular hotel is offering the 30% off rate by using their flexible calendar, as I have done below.

For the first dates I put in, the hotel was not offering the 30% off rate.

So I clicked on the Flexible Dates Calendar and saw what dates were available and picked a date that worked for me.

And like magic, the 30% off rate came up.

For $63, it is hard to think of a reason not to take part in this promotion!

I almost feel dumb now for paying $100 to do my Big Night Stay at Country Inn & Suites in Bloomington, IL!

Remember that the 50,000 Points you earn from the Big Night Giveaway can be used at Radisson’s ultra nice Aqua hotels. The one in Chicago goes for $390 a night.

I’ll let you do the math but spending $63 to earn 50,000 Points that you can redeem to stay at a nice hotel that costs $390 a night ($451 if you include tax), in the words of Larry David, seems like a prettty prettttttttty good deal.

A Few Parting Words

The Reader that reminded me about this 30% off sale also had a few questions, so I thought I’d share the answers.

Q: Can you transfer Club Carlson Points between 2 different Club Carlson accounts (ie. Husband/ Wife, etc)?

A: Yes you can. Instructions can be found here.

Q: Do Club Carlson Points Expire?

A: Yes, but only after 2 years of not having activity in your account. So if you do this promotion, then you have 2 years to use the points before the expire.

2 Other Things To Remember

  • If you use ClubCarlson.com to perform your search for eligible hotels and then want to book it via TopCashBack to get an additional 10%, remember to close your browser and clear your cookies before you use TopCashBack, or you probably won’t get the cash back.
  • The Big Night Giveaway ends July 15, so make sure your stay is prior to that date or you won’t get the 50,000 Points!

Hopefully this new 30% off coupon encourages some of you to loose your mattress run virginity and rack up a ton of points at a minimal cost!

Just Another Tuesday

Although I talked about mattress running yesterday, there is nothing better than sitting at work this morning and getting an email politely informing you that your 44,000 points have just posted!

Talk about customer service!

I’ve talked about it before and I’ll probably talk about it again, but this is really a great promotion and if you can find a cheap Radisson, Country Inn & Suites, or Park Inn near you, I’d highly recommend doing this promotion for an easy 50,000 points per a stay at each of the 3 Brands above.

1st Ever Mattress Run Complete – Club Carlson Big Night Giveaway

This weekend, I officially completed my 1st ever Mattress Run as part of Club Carlson’s Big Night Giveaway.

I will say mattress running is probably not as exciting as mileage running (where you fly around on a plane just to earn miles) however it also doesn’t take up as much time or effort.

We got to the Country Inn & Suites around 10pm and check in was smooth.

When we were checking in, the receptionist asked us if we wanted 1 or 2 keys. I was tempted just to tell her what we were actually doing, however in all honesty she probably wasn’t even aware of the 44,000 point promotion we were taking part in.

To act less shady, we actually went up and took a look at the room. It was alright, nothing special.

The one thing I will point out is that Country Inn & Suites, like almost all other hotels in that price point (Holiday Inn, etc.) do offer free wi-fi and breakfast.

The one thing I cannot stand when staying at higher end brands like Hyatt & Westin, etc, is that given the amount of money you are paying per a night, why can’t they at least include internet for free?

If Holiday Inn can do it while charging $100 a night, I can’t imagine why a Hyatt at $250 a night can’t include it. If it really is such a big expense for the hotel, then a better idea would be to just to build the $10 internet fee into the price of the room and charge everyone for it.

To me, a hotel is primarily for sleeping, so if I saw a Westin and Country Inn at the same price but the Country Inn included internet, I would strongly lean towards the Country Inn especially if it was just for 1 night.

Anyways back to the point of this post, if you haven’t already signed up for the Club Carlson Big Night Giveaway, registration is still open and I highly suggest doing it.

It is an extremely cheap and cost effective way to rack up 50,000 or so points for around $110 depending on where you decide to stay.

If you are super adventurous you can do 3 seperate stays at a Radisson, Country Inn, and Park Inn, and get almost 50,000 Club Carlson points per each stay for a total of 150,000 points.

Also from what I have read, Club Carlson is now allowing reservations that were made before the official start of the Big Night Giveaway to be counted in this promotion, which is good news.
