2 Free Nights With The Hyatt Card + Free Hyatt Platinum Status
Hyatt Card
A few of you have asked what are some easy ways to get hotel points.
This is an excellent question because depending on where you are going and how luxurious your accommodations, hotel expenses can often be more than your airfare!
For the average 5 day stay at a 3-4 star hotel, it can easily cost over $200+ a night.
Due to the large amount of frequent flyer credit card offers out there, it is fairly easy to get 100,000 Avios Points for next to nothing.
Once you have those miles, if you can also get some free hotel nights, then your out-of-pocket cost for airfare and hotel can almost be $0.
If used properly, hotel points can be as valuable as frequent flyer miles!
When I went to Hawaii in December 2010 and San Francisco in July 2010, both times I used 48,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points for 5 free nights.
The actual cost of the San Francisco Westin was a little over $200 a night, while the Westin Maui was over $500 a night (It was over Christmas which is peak season). Needless to say those 96,000 SPG points allowed me to stay 10 nights at two 4-5 star hotels for free and saved me over $3,500 ($1,000 in San Fran and over $2,500 in Hawaii).
While the Starwood American Express card is currently offering 25,000 points, I personally think the Hyatt Card from Chase has a better sign up bonus.
Benefits
By signing up for the Hyatt Visa from Chase, you get 2 free nights at any Hyatt worldwide!
As I always advocate, 2 people should always sign up for a card because it allows you to both get the bonus.
In this case, if both people signed up, it would be 4 free nights at any Hyatt, anywhere in the world!
Unlike most of the other cards currently available, there are no minimum spending requirements for this card.
As soon as you make your first purchase, you earn the 2 free night certificates (which expire in 1 year)!
Additionally, with this card you also get instant Platinum status for as long as you have the card.
While there is a $75 annual fee on the card, it is definitely worth it when you figure out what the value of the 2 free rooms in worth and factor in the fact that every year after you pay your $75 annual fee for the card, you get a free night certificate that can be redeemed at any Hyatt (Category 1 -4) which at a minimum is worth $75.
Basically the Card pays for itself and then some!

Say you signed up for the British Airways 100,000 Avios Points promo, and want to use some of your points for a trip to Paris.
If you and your partner both signed up for the free Platinum status and then for the Hyatt Visa, then you would each get 2 free nights & 2 confirmed suite upgrades, so 4 free nights & 4 confirmed suite upgrades in total.
In Paris, you could use your 4 free nights at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome.
The base rate for the cheapest room at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome is $640 EURO a night, so almost $827 USD.
Yeah I know what you are thinking….WOW!
If you stayed 4 nights at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome and used the 4 free nights certificates you earned through your Chase Hyatt Visa, you would have spent a grand total of $150 to acquire the Hyatt Cards ($75 annual fee each).
For that small fee, you would have received 4 free nights at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome in a deluxe room that has a face value of $3,311 USD.
That seems like a good deal to me!
Since Chase and Hyatt are being so generous by giving free night certificates instead of actual points, you can use these certificates at any Hyatt properties worldwide including Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, Andez, etc.
If you have a honeymoon or some kind of anniversary coming up, this would be a great way to take a really romantic vacation to Bali or Hawaii or some place really beautiful for $150 total.
It does not get much better than that!
Feel free to visit Hyatt.com and see for yourself where you could go with the 4 free nights and how much you would save.
One More Thing
Before anyone asks, if you signed up for the Chase British Airways 100,000 Avios Points offer in the last week, you are still eligible to sign up for this offer.
Simply sign up for the card, and then call the Chase Reconsideration Line at 1-800-453-9719 and say that you would also like the Hyatt Card so you can earn hotel points!
As long as your credit is good, you should not have any problems signing up for both cards!
If you have any questions, let me know!

Parag,
Good info about the Hyatt card. Couple of questions.
– It seems the 2 free nights offer will need to be redeemed within a year of issuance. Please update the post with it.
– What are some ways to avoid the $75 annual fee? Downgrade the card? Any chances of getting it waived?
Thanks
Thanks for catching that! For the annual fee, although it sucks, in all honesty in this case it is worth it because you are getting 2 free nights anywhere in the world which can be worth thousands of dollars. After your 1st year, again I would say the annual fee is worth it because you are getting 1 free night at Category 1-4 which at a minimum is worth $75. If the BA card or United card offered 10,000 miles every year after you pay your annual fee, I think most people would pay the fee. I haven’t had the Hyatt Card before so I can’t comment on downgrading or getting it waived but it is always worth a shot!
